Bringing Community Together - One Food Truck at a Time
Our very own Vice President of the Board of Directors, Paul Gold, has taken community living to a whole new level. While most condo associations stick to the traditional, Paul thinks outside the box. His latest initiative? Inviting food trucks to Seaplace!
A Taste Adventure at Your Doorstep
This week, we were thrilled to have "Two Guys Sandwiches" and "Dirty Dough" parked at Seaplace, offering a wide array of flavors to our residents. It's not just about food; it's about creating moments, sharing experiences, and building a stronger community.
A Chat with Paul Gold
In our latest "Everything Seaplace" video, we sat down with Paul Gold to discuss this innovative concept. He shared his vision of bringing people together in a relaxed, enjoyable setting. "It's about adding a little extra joy to our daily lives," says Paul. And joy, indeed, was in the air!
Delightful Sandwiches and Decadent Dough

Everyone, welcome to another episode of Everything Sea Place.
My name is Mike Renick. I am your host for these short video clips. This is where we tell the story of the great things of the people that live, play, and work here at Sea Place. My guest today is our Vice President, Mr. Paul Gold. Paul, thank you for being here.
Thank you for having me. I am excited on a beautiful day at Seaplace. The sun is shining, the waves are rolling, and the food trucks are here.
Food trucks. Yes. That is a good reason to make a video. Tell me more about the food trucks.
Well, we have been doing food trucks here for about three years and it has been highly successful with everybody liking to come out and get something, so they do not have to cook. Today's trucks are Dirty Dough cookies.
That could be my favorite down the road just in case.
And Two Guys Sandwiches and they have chicken and beef and all sorts of different things. They look like Philly cheese, but they are not. And this is the first time for Two Guys, and it is the second time for Dirty Dough. They wanted to come back with their special cookies, and I am glad they are here. -
So, you started coordinating these over a year ago. How often do you bring in a different food truck?
Well, time flies as you know. It has been three years. - Oh my gosh. And we started out with the lobster truck and when we did the lobster truck was parked where two guys are now. And the line went down to the sidewalk where people wanted to get lobster Roll.
I was in that line.
You were in that line. And that is a very popular truck. But we have also had Mexican food, we have had Greek food, we have German food and Treehouse Barbecue. So, we have a lot of popular trucks that people come out for. And if the weather is good and the people are here, they like to eat for some strange reason.
So, I am a transparent, open kind of a guy. So, I am using your sandwich truck as an excuse to come over and buy cookies from the cookie truck.
Ah, good idea. Very good idea. They, they will be excellent. I promise.
I may have been out of town because I do not remember them from before and I try to get over her each time. But this is just one of many unique things that we do here at Sea Place to just separate us from the rest of the associations on the island.
It sure does. And you asked how often they come. They come about every two weeks. I try to space them out and people really do enjoy coming out. Many times, when the weather’s warm, they will eat out on the patio and if it is a little inclement, they will go into the clubhouse, or they will take it home. That is popular.
Now, in fairness, we need to translate what you just said.
Okay.
For our folks up north inclement here is probably seventy-two. They call that a heat wave, we call it inclement. And you have a jacket on, it is upper sixties right now, right?
Yes, no, I think it is 70, but I had it on when I was in the condo because the air conditioning was on. So, I figured, what the heck.
So, we always need to translate our language down here in Florida for our folks back home up north.
I understand. And, and I will follow your lead.
That is dangerous. So, Paul, I want to say thank you. It is your effort to do this. You, you engage in many
other things here at Seaplace, but it is this kind of work that makes Seaplace a great place to live, to work and to play. Would you agree?
I would agree. And many people on Longboat Key are jealous of Seaplace. Not only for the beautiful beach and the nice living here, but because we have the food trucks, and they do not.
I love it. And I want to personally thank you for all the work you have done as Vice President. You work more behind the scenes in terms of interfacing with our Seaplace attorney. All the legal issues we are going through with the documents rewrite windows and all that kind of stuff. So, owners do not get to see that. But if I took the nine directors, including myself and I ask who are the top 25% in terms of effort, you are in that top 25%.
Well, that is nice to hear. As a retired judge, I like to put my efforts forward to help Seaplace and there always seems to be an issue to deal with. So, I am happy to help. There
Is, you know about that. We definitely not short of the, but again, Paul, I want to say thank you for all that you do. I appreciate it.
Thank you for being a great president.
We will cut that out of this thing. Take care.
